This policy explains how MamaCheck collects, uses, and protects your personal data, in accordance with the GDPR and Apple and Google requirements.3. Data collected
MamaCheck collects only the data strictly necessary for its proper operation:- Internal technical identifier – automatically generated to ensure the operation of the app without creating a visible user account
- First name (optional) – to personalize the experience
- Estimated pregnancy due date (optional) – to personalize the experience
- Scan history – stored only on your device
- Product photos (optional) – when you choose to add an image to enrich the product database
- Photos used for OCR (optional) – when you choose to send an image in order to automatically extract product information
- Data extracted by OCR – for example product name, ingredients, nutritional information, or other information visible on the packaging
- Technical metadata associated with images – for example date, device, or EXIF data if present and retained
MamaCheck does not collect medical records, diagnoses, declared medical conditions, or detailed medical data. Certain optional information related to pregnancy, such as the estimated due date, may be provided voluntarily in order to personalize the experience. The app can be used without creating a visible account or using a login interface.
4. Purpose of processing
The data is used only to:- personalize your user experience
- enable the scan and food analysis features to work
- improve the product database
- enable the collaborative addition of product photos in order to enrich the database
- automatically extract certain product information from an image using OCR or artificial intelligence processing
5. Legal basis for processing
Processing is based on:- your explicit consent when you voluntarily provide information, add a product photo, or use an OCR feature
- MamaCheck’s legitimate interest in improving the quality, accuracy, and richness of its product database
6. Hosting, technical providers and security
The data required for MamaCheck to operate is hosted on a secure virtual private server in France (OVH).Product photos added by users are stored separately on secure storage infrastructure provided by OVH, located in the European Union.
Some photos or product information may be transmitted to technical providers specializing in artificial intelligence and OCR, in order to automatically extract information from an image or product packaging.
These providers intervene only to provide the requested feature and process data on behalf of MamaCheck.
Some technical providers may involve processing or transferring data outside the European Union. In that case, MamaCheck ensures that such transfers are covered by appropriate safeguards in accordance with the GDPR.
Scan history is stored only locally on your device and is not transmitted to MamaCheck’s servers.
MamaCheck applies appropriate security measures to protect your information.
7. Data sharing
MamaCheck does not sell your data and does not share it with third parties for their own purposes. Some data may be transmitted to technical providers acting on behalf of MamaCheck, only when necessary for the operation of the service, in particular for hosting, storage, or OCR processing.No advertising or external analytics service, such as Firebase Analytics, is used.
8. Your rights
In accordance with the GDPR, you have the following rights:- Right of access, rectification, and deletion
- Right to object to processing
- Right to restriction of processing
- Right to data portability
- Right to withdraw your consent at any time, where processing is based on your consent
- Right to lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority, including the CNIL in France
9. Data retention
Optional data, such as first name and due date, and the internal technical identifier are retained for as long as they are necessary for the operation of the app or until you request their deletion. You may request their deletion at any time. Scan history remains local on your device.Product photos may be retained for as long as they are useful for the operation of the collaborative database. They may be retained even after deletion of your personal data or internal technical identifier if they no longer directly identify you.
Photos used only for OCR are processed to extract the necessary product information. They are not retained as product photos unless you explicitly choose to add them to the database.
10. Content added by users
When you add a photo or contribute to the database:- you are responsible for the content you publish
- you agree not to publish content containing personal data, such as a face, address, or any other identifiable information, without consent
- you agree that this content may be used to enrich the MamaCheck database

We may update this privacy policy to reflect changes to MamaCheck, our processing practices, or the applicable regulations. The date of the latest update is indicated at the top of this page.
